College Ball

My congratulations to all students involved in the Ball last Friday. It was wonderful to see our students dressed in their finery and enjoying such a great evening. As Maggie said in her opening welcome, “You all scrub up well.”

The DJ, who has entertained at our College Balls for many years, remarked on how positive and engaged our students always are.

My thanks go to Teresa Hickman and Sue Fimmano, the main organisers of the Ball, who put a great deal of creativity and effort into the event. Thanks also to the staff who attended and assisted in ensuring the evening went smoothly.

Year 11 Tours

This week, Year 11 students attended a series of industry visits tailored to their Farm or Trades focus.

The Trades Focus students spent the day visiting engineering and mechanical worksites, including Mineral Resources and Bruce Rock Engineering. Meanwhile, the Farm Focus students explored a range of sites related to the Wheatbelt farming systems, such as Muresk and CBH. Students also attended the Dowerin Field Day, with some even competing in various events.

My thanks go to Patrick Swallow, Paul Dyson and Shaun Cantwell, the main organisers of these valuable visits.

A special thank you to Paul, Patrick, Nicole Strehle, and Jenny Staker for accompanying the Farm Focus trip, which involved overnight stays.

Netball Grand Final

Well done to our netball girls who competed in the local competition this week. In a nail-biting grand final, our team came away with the win! Congratulations to the players and thank you to Therese Sparks for her support and dedicated coaching efforts.

2026 Students

This week, we conducted our final interviews for the 2026 intake of Year 10 and 11 students.

Over the course of this year, we have completed 145 interviews to select 51 Year 10s and around 13 Year 11s to join us next year.

The number of new Year 11s remains somewhat flexible, depending on how many of our current Year 10s moving through into Year 11. Our aim is to maintain a total of 64 Year 11 students each year.

Applications to enrol at the College continue to exceed the number of places available, which is a reflection of how the College is regarded in the wider community. Our reputation is important to us because we know our students benefit when employment doors are opened for them.
