Foundation Visual Arts

Linking with the STSS Living Things unit, our Foundation students have been busy creating bright and cheerful flower collages and paintings. Using a mix of painting, stamping, cutting, fringing, and gluing, they combined flowers, insects, sunshine, and clouds to design their own colourful gardens. This activity encouraged creativity while building fine motor skills, and the students enjoyed adding their own unique touches to make each artwork special. They also proudly shared their masterpieces with the class, explaining their ideas and creative choices.

Grade 1 and 2 Visual Arts

In Art, Grade 1 and 2 students learned how to use acrylic paint safely while creating colourful, layered covers for their art folders. They practised caring for their materials by cleaning their brushes in the water pot, refilling their own water at the sink, and drying their brush on a sponge each time they changed colours. This hands-on responsibility helped them understand how to keep their paint bright and their art supplies in good condition. To finish, students presented their work to the class, sharing what they enjoyed, what was tricky, and what they discovered about painting.

Grade 5 and 6 Visual Arts

Our Grade 5 and 6 students have been putting the final touches on their athlete sculptures, layering vibrant details using acrylic paint, paint markers, and permanent markers to bring each piece to life. They’ve begun photographing their sculptures in a lightbox, transferring the images into Canva to create custom digital backgrounds that complement their artworks. Along the way, students shared constructive feedback with their peers to refine their designs and grow their artistic skills.

Visual Arts Showcase

Thank you to all the families who stopped by the Art Room during our Visual Arts Showcase Night to see what we’ve been learning last semester. It was wonderful to watch families getting creative together and making their own Kandinsky-inspired artworks — a colourful and fun way to share the joy of art!

Chalk Drawings

Students have been having fun creating colourful chalk drawings around the school.
