We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Finn McBurnie, who has recently completed an extraordinary run of international clay target shooting competitions.
Finn proudly represented Australia as part of the Junior Team at the ICTSF World English Sporting Championship in Canada, where he delivered outstanding results:
Bronze – Class Placement
In addition to these podium finishes, Finn excelled across multiple events:
Preliminary Event – Gold (Sub-Junior) & Gold (Class)
Finn also showcased his talent on the world stage at the FITASC World Sporting Championship in Cyprus, finishing 10th in Juniors (U21) and an impressive 62nd overall out of 650 competitors. This result has elevated his world junior ranking to 19th in the world.
To round out an incredible season, Finn competed in the World Sportrap Event in England, securing 4th place in his class.
These experiences have not only highlighted Finn’s skill and determination but also allowed him to connect with some of the world’s best clay target shooters.
We congratulate Finn on his exceptional performances and look forward to following his journey as he continues to shine on the international stage.
Twenty boys from Years 7–10 who successfully qualified for Stage 2 of the NSW Netball Cup travelled to Wagga Wagga early Monday morning for the NSW Netball Cup. Schools from across the Riverina competed in the pool games, with both Trinity teams putting in impressive performances.
The 9/10 Boys team, coached by Mrs Alison Barrett and Sharvikka Jayaprakash, had a slow start, dropping their first match. However, they bounced back strongly, winning the remainder of their pool games by comfortable margins. Standout contributors included Lewis Kreutzberger and Tiger Phillips. The team finished first in their pool, booking a place in the final against an undefeated Xavier Catholic College. Although they fell short to their local rivals, Coach Barrett was especially impressed with Jack Dodds-Hunt’s growth throughout the day as a strong presence under the ring, and the tireless effort of Ryan “Noonie” Piltz, who commanded centre court from start to finish.
The 7/8 Boys team, coached by Brodie Taylor and Ella Stevens, had a very different journey, dominating from the outset. Their biggest challenge was staying switched on, as they knew they were capable of going all the way. Despite an injury, Hugo Menz combined brilliantly with his ring partner, Charlie Coulter, while the Anderson brothers controlled the midcourt (when they weren’t arguing with each other!).
Their Grand Final, again against Xavier, was a nail-biter with five or six lead changes in the closing minutes. A late comeback forced the game into overtime, where the boys held their nerve. With all the remaining schools gathered to watch, Trinity secured the win by three goals, closing out the game with smart ball movement through the midcourt.
The 7/8 Boys have now qualified for the NSW Netball Cup State Final in Sydney, where they will compete against the best schools from across the state.
A special thanks goes to Mrs Alison Barrett for coordinating selections and training, as well as our dedicated student leaders Ella Stevens, Brodie Taylor, and Sharvikka Jayaprakash, who coached exceptionally on the day. Thanks also to Madison Tuffey and Brodie Taylor for their contributions as umpires. Well done, everyone!
Forty students from Years 7 - 9 travelled to Wagga Wagga to compete in the NSW All Schools Basketball Tournament. This is only the second year Trinity has participated, and once again, it was a hugely successful day. We entered Division 1 and 2 teams for both boys and girls, with all groups showing tremendous growth.
The Division 1 Boys, coached by Matt de Koeyer, had a strong start, winning two of their three pool games. Senior players Lewis Kreutzberger and Tiger Phillips led from the front, dominating both ends of the court. The boys advanced to the Grand Final, where they fell to a polished Xavier side. Coach Matt praised the depth of talent across all year groups, with notable performances from Neto Ezekwe and Ethan Crisp, and highlighted that “the future is very bright.”
The Division 1 Girls, coached by Jacob Cincurak, faced their toughest challenge in the opening round, going down to Xavier by 20 points. They rebounded with convincing 20-point wins in their next two games, earning a rematch against Xavier in the Grand Final. Determined to keep the scoreline close, the girls executed their game plan well, with Lucy Hocking drawing plenty of defensive attention, while Molly Collins stepped up brilliantly in the guard position. Ella McGrath and Blaze Phillips also shone with their sharp shooting.
The Division 2 Girls, coached by Karla Wise-Chalker, enjoyed a strong day and claimed silver overall. Standout efforts came from Imogen Gardiner and Marli Myers. The Division 2 Boys battled hard, falling agonisingly short in a nail-biting semi-final. Nathanael Vogel was outstanding in crunch time, hitting a clutch three-pointer and making a key steal, while Ted Vesey, Ryder Murray, and Zak Emmett also impressed.
A big thank you goes to our support crew – Hugo Menz and Blake Di Stefano for managing the scoreboard all day, and Imogen Arcus and Lily Wright for their contributions as referees.
