Junior School

Simon Fairall - Head of Junior School

It’s been a vibrant and rewarding fortnight in the Junior School, filled with meaningful connections, joyful celebrations, and exciting preparations for what’s ahead.

We were thrilled with the success of our Student Progress Meetings. These conversations are a vital part of our partnership with families, helping us to celebrate growth, identify areas for support, and set purposeful goals for each learner. Thank you for your time, insight, and commitment to your child’s journey - it truly makes a difference.

Last week’s Book Week Parade was a standout moment in our calendar. It was wonderful to see students from Kindergarten through to Year 12 dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing stories to life across the campus. The energy and creativity were contagious, and it was especially heartening to welcome so many parents, grandparents, and community members who came to share in the celebration. Thank you for being part of such a joyful day.

We also had the pleasure of hosting the VEX Robotics Challenge Day here at Trinity, welcoming students and staff from Galen Catholic College. It was an inspiring day filled with innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving as students engaged in friendly competition using their custom-built robots. Events like this not only build STEM skills but also foster collaboration, creativity, and confidence.

A heartfelt thank you to Tamara Steinhauser for her outstanding leadership in driving this event and for her ongoing commitment to growing our STEM and VEX Robotics program. Her passion and dedication are opening exciting pathways for our students and helping them develop skills that will serve them well into the future. We’re proud of all who participated and represented Trinity with such enthusiasm and respect.

We’re now looking ahead to our upcoming Junior School Camps at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre:

  • Year 4 will attend from 3–5 September,
  • Year 3 will attend on 11–12 September.

These camps are designed to build confidence, independence, and a sense of safety as students begin their first two years of overnight camp experiences. Our staff are working closely with students to prepare them for this exciting milestone, and we’re confident it will be a positive and memorable adventure.

We’re also excited to launch our Learn to Swim program for students in Kindergarten to Year 2.

  • Block A will see Kindergarten students attend lessons at Gould Swimming Academy from 18–25 September.
  • Year 1 and Year 2 will participate in Term 4.

Year 6 Orienteering

Our Year 6 students had a fantastic time at Wodonga TAFE, learning hands-on navigation skills including map reading, compass use and terrain recognition.

The highlight? Tackling the orienteering course - working individually and in teams to navigate checkpoints, solve problems and cross the finish line with confidence!

A great day of teamwork, resilience and outdoor adventure.

Dog Safety in Kindergarten

A big thank you to Helen and her lovely dog, Chai, for visiting our Kindergarten students last week!

Helen shared an important lesson on Responsible Pet Ownership, teaching our Kinders how to:

  • recognise a dog’s mood,
  • understand when to give a dog space, and
  • approach dogs safely.

Our students were amazing listeners and learnt how to build safe, happy friendships with our four-legged friends.

Thanks Helen and Chai for visiting us.

Grandparents Day – Friday 26 September

On the final day of term, we welcome grandparents and special friends to join us for a day of celebration. This event includes classroom visits and student performances. It’s a beautiful way to honour the important role grandparents play in our students’ lives.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping our students shine - both in their learning and in the way they present themselves each day.

As the weather begins to warm, we enter the transition window into summer uniform from Week 7 through to Week 3 of Term 4. During this time, students may wear either winter or summer uniform depending on the conditions and family preference.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to reinforce our focus on pride in self and uniform. Wearing the Trinity uniform neatly and respectfully is one way our students show belonging, care, and readiness to learn. We encourage families to support children in wearing their uniform with pride - including tidy presentation, correct items, and a positive attitude toward representing our College well.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to sharing more wonderful moments with you as the term continues.
