Fun with Spheros in the STEM Room
Today my class 3/4G went to the STEM Room and we played with the Spheros. My teacher, Mrs Gilbert, put a lot of time into this. She has been working since 8:30am and she did it for us and it was a fabulous time. We had a race and my partner was Yusuf. He helped me with the Spheros. I did the Sphero race, it was so much fun. We came second in the race.

After lunch today, 3/4G was planning to go to the STEM Room and use the Spheros. But the Preps were there, so we did it in the corridor. My group was Dina and Finn. We did an obstacle course where we had to drive the Sphero through our legs. All of 3/4G did a race through the course and we were dead last every time.

Today, in the afternoon, 3/4G had fun with the Spheros. We split into fun groups! We had time to practise and master our skills. Our group decided to practise really hard. It all came down to this moment, the 3/4G Sphero race. We all had so much fun!

Today we had fun playing with the Spheros. I was in a group with Florence and CJ. We did a good job of controlling the Sphero, it was really tricky. The whole class did a really competitive race in the hallway. Through all of the games we never even finished, it was as if someone else was controlling ours! Even though we never won, it was really fun.

We went to the STEM Room and played with the Spheros, mechanical balls that roll around. The Year 5 boys helped us learn how to use the Spheros. We played around with them for a bit and then we had a race. My team came first once!

Year 5/6 Zoo Excursion
On Friday 22nd August the 5/6 cohort went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. This was for our Inquiry Unit on Animal Adaptions and Features. The students enjoyed a range of keeper talks including orangutans, giraffes and lions.
The students also experienced exhibits such as the Butterfly House and Sealife. Throughout the day the students worked through an activity booklet on how animals adapt, evolve and survive.
Each group attended a class where they studied the structural and adaptive features of an assortment of animals.
We finished the day with some lunch at the picnic grounds before returning back to school.
A big thank you to all the parent helpers, as the day wouldn’t have been possible without them.

Footy Day
On Thursday the 28th of July the Chatham Primary School Community celebrated Footy Day. Students dressed up in their favourite footy (or non footy) team’s colours and brought a gold coin donation for Chatham’s Sporting Teams. The donations totalled $164.10.
The Junior School Council organised a parade in the hall in the morning. Each team of supporters walked around the hall, with their team’s song playing. Students proudly showed off their team’s colours and displayed immense enthusiasm. Parents were also invited to this parade, many of them also wearing the colours of the team they support.
The Junior School Council organised and ran a series of footy related events throughout the rest of the day. Classes participated in a longest kick competition, a most accurate kick competition and a partner handballing activity. It was wonderful to see such strong excitement from all the students!
The Junior School Council was instrumental in planning for this event, and they should be congratulated for their dedication and hard work. Well Done!
