Principal Team Update

Hi BPS families,

Musical Week is here! We are very excited to see our Year 6 students take to the stage this evening and tomorrow evening for their production of Aladdin. Countless hours of preparation - practising lines, singing, dancing, rehearsing, sourcing and bedazzling costumes, and creating and decorating sets, have gone into the lead-up to this special event. We know this hard work will ensure our students feel prepared, confident, and ready to have fun while giving their very best. We wish our Year 6 students, along with all staff involved, the very best for their two performances.

Our recognition and celebration of The Arts at Beaumaris Primary continues next week, with our school coming together on Wednesday for The Arts Day. All students from Prep to Year 6 will immerse themselves in a variety of activities, including dancing, painting, performing, and collaborating throughout the day. Please ensure you have accessed the Compass event information prior to the day.

Book Week was another highlight for our community. We were blown away by the creativity and effort put into preparing costumes and celebrating the occasion. Thank you for all of your contributions. Our writers were celebrated, favourite stories were shared, and characters came to life! Please enjoy a full Book Week recap from our Literacy Learning Specialist, Miss Anthea Cain, on the School News page of this newsletter.

Amidst these many significant events for our students and community, there is as always an abundance of teaching and learning taking place. The fourth instalment of our Topic Spotlight series on Teaching, Learning and Wellbeing at BPS is featured in this edition of the newsletter, unpacking our Instructional Sequence and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0.

We are proud of the exceptional learning program we provide for our students, and we're looking forward to holding our BPS Teaching, Learning and Wellbeing Information Evening on Wednesday 17th September from 6:30-7:30pm in the SALC. On the evening, families will hear more about our approach to teaching and learning at BPS, including our Instructional Sequence, Literacy and Mathematics teaching practices, as well as our Wellbeing approach that underpins student engagement and success. We look forward to welcoming you to this important evening and sharing how our evidence-based practices ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. If you would like to attend, please RSVP by clicking here.

The start of Spring brings with it the need for our students to wear their hat at recess and lunch time. Whilst the temperature still feels cool, the UV Index is 3 which is when hats are required. Please ensure your child's hat is clearly named.

We look forward to welcoming many of our BPS dads and other special people in our students’ lives this Friday at 2:45pm for our Open Afternoon Father’s and Special Person’s Day activity. A big thank you to Parents & Friends for all their work in organising and running the stall, giving our students the opportunity to select a special gift.

We wish all of our BPS dads a very happy Father’s Day this Sunday.

Kind regards,

David, Grace, Ellen and Keli
