Year 6 Leadership Day

Be the best you can be.

On Leadership Day we walked down to St Louis to take part in the Year 6 Leadership Day with other schools in our area. The other schools there were St Louis and Resurrection Keysborough. We learned about Momentum, Leadership and Legacy.

Liam:

I learnt that when you make a marble run you have to try to make the marbles stay on the paper and cardboard for as long as you can. Apparently the half pipe almost always wins.

I am getting much better and talking aloud to people from different schools which I am proud of.

Ryda:

The main focus this term is 'Be the Best You Can Be'.

The first activity was where you had to name the character on a sheet of paper which was really fun. After that we watched a clip from Big Bang Theory where Sheldon was having a one-sided conversation with a girl about xbox and playstation.  We then had to have our own 1 sided conversation with a partner. After that activity we had to work together to copy a combination of lego and put it together. We had a chain of command principal, vice principal, secretary, hall monitor and 2 teachers which was extremely fun but sadly we didn't get anything correct.

We then had to make a marble run that the marble had to stay rolling on the run the longest. We had  10 sheets of paper, 1 card paper, 1 cardboard box and a roll of tape. We ended up making a long run which in testing we got 10.89 but when the teacher put the marble in our run one of the pieces of paper unfolded itself and we only got 4.5 seconds. The best was 10.43 - we could’ve won. That was all the activities we did and I had heaps of fun.

NEWS FROM MRS SULLIVAN

National Child Protection Week 2025

National Child Protection Week runs from Sunday 7 to Saturday 13 September and is coordinated by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN). The week raises awareness of the community's collective response to the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people, now and in the future and champions the message:

Every child in every community needs a fair go’.

This year's theme - ‘Every Conversation matters: Shifting conversations to action’- highlights that while discussions are crucial, dialogue must translate to meaningful action to ensure that every child feels heard, and experiences real safety, care and protection.

Please see the links below for more information.

We would like to say a warm welcome to Poppy and Violet Sheridan who joined us in Year 5 this week.  Poppy and Violet are in Mrs Harrison's class.
