PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Our Annual Science Week celebrations have been a highlight this week as each year level participated in activities. Burra Foods visited our Year 7s and made butter as well they explored how germs are carried from one person to another in the Glitterbug activity. Year 8 like minds had an interesting excursion to GTAC where they participated in science experiments using technology usually accessed by university students. Year 9 students went to the primary school and ran a round robin of science experiments with the grade one and two students, who got to do 15 experiments. Year 10s rocked the school with the pyrotechnic explosions. We also welcomed two calves to school for the Cows Create Careers program at Year 10. Thanks to the science team for the innovative and inspiring activities for our students.
Next week we celebrate Book Week - with book clubs, lunchtime activities, dress up days and author visits, it promises to be a week of fun to encourage students to read more and use our fantastic library.
Our school production is well underway with production camp last weekend where all students and staff enjoyed creating props, practicing scenes and making music. If This Couch Could Talk promises to be another excellent homegrown production on Sept 5th and 6th in the PAC. If you haven’t got your tickets yet make sure you don’t miss out. Thanks to our Performing arts teachers who gave up their weekend to work with students to create an amazing performance.
Next week parents will receive an individual link to the annual Department of Education Parents and Carers Opinion Survey. We value your participation in this survey as it provides feedback on how we are supporting you and your children as a school and helps us identify strengths and areas for improvement. Please take the time to complete the survey. Last year we had 46 families complete it and this year I would love to double that number so we can rely on the data as valid. We will have a draw for people who email me that they have completed the survey with a $50 uniform voucher as a prize. If we get over 60 completed we will offer a second prize of a $30 voucher. If we get over 80 surveys done we will offer a third prize of $20
When we work together to improve education experiences for our students we create a strong community where students and parents feel connected to the school. I really hope that you will take the time to reflect on how well we are meeting your families needs.
