A message from the Principal

Assumption of Mary – Friday 15 August

Last Friday, we celebrated the Assumption of Mary, a sacred day in the Church calendar. This feast commemorates Mary being taken into heaven, body and soul, and reminds us of her special role in the story of salvation. For our students, it’s an important opportunity to reflect on Mary’s faith, courage, and example of living a life devoted to God and showing amazing care for others.

Working Bee – Sunday 14 September

Mark your calendars! On Sunday 14th September from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, we are inviting members of our school community to lend a hand at our Working Bee. A little time from many hands will go a long way in improving and maintaining our school grounds. We look forward to seeing you there!

Spirituality Day – Wednesday 13 August

Last week, our staff from St. Peter’s joined colleagues from St. Kilian’s Primary School and DOXA at St. Kilian’s to explore the theme Learning from the Mystics. We were inspired by Fr Jake Mudge as he unpacked the diocesan theme of Pilgrims of Hope, and participated in workshops led by CESL and diocesan staff.

The day concluded with a pilgrimage from St. Kilian’s to Sacred Heart Cathedral, where we were welcomed by Fr Jackson Saunders and walked through the Jubilee Door. Fr Junray joined us throughout the day, and we were blessed with beautiful sunshine for the entire pilgrimage.

Learning Conversations – Thursday 14 August

Thank you to all staff and families who attended or connected with teachers in person or over the phone. The attendance was excellent, and the conversations about learning were invaluable. These discussions are an important part of supporting your child’s growth and celebrating their achievements.

Book Fair – 11-15 August

Last week, our Book Fair was one of the best attended to date, coinciding with the Learning Conversations. A huge thank you to Michelle Barri, supported by staff including Blake Barri, for their incredible work. Over $1,100 worth of books were purchased—our second highest total in history. What an outstanding achievement!

Book Week Parade – Wednesday 20 August

This week, we celebrate Book Week! Wednesday 20 August is our main day, with students invited to dress up as their favourite book characters. The theme for 2025 is ‘Book an Adventure’.

The dress-up parade will take place first thing in the morning after walking, at the Gathering Space in front of the Knuldoorong, starting precisely at 9:05 am.

Later in the day, the Blurbs will return to St. Peter’s for their exciting 2:00 pm presentation, featuring wonderful books and new songs. We can’t wait to see them bring stories to life again this year!

ORIMA Survey – Wednesday 20 August

Directly following the Book Week Parade, parents are invited to join us for morning tea and complete our ORIMA survey. Prizes will be drawn for completed surveys. If you are unable to attend, don’t worry—we will send survey invitations via email so everyone can provide feedback on our school community.

Walk to School – Friday 22 August

Our Walk to School will take place this Friday 22 August, starting from the RSL Carpark at 8:30 am. We look forward to seeing families join in for this healthy and fun way to start the day!

Gymnastics Program Continues

This Friday 22 August marks the final gymnastics session for our Prep to Year 4 students. It’s been a wonderful program, and we thank all students for their participation and enthusiasm!

Prayer for the Week

Loving God,

We give thanks for Mary, who in her Assumption reminds us of your love and care.

May we be inspired by her faith, courage, and generosity, and live our lives seeking your guidance.

Bless our students, families, and staff, and help us walk together in hope and joy.

Amen.

God Bless,
