Historic Gold to Kambala Junior Relay Team at IGSA Athletics
IGSA Athletics was conducted on a wet track, but the Kambala team proved they definitely ‘Don’t melt in the rain’ as Mr Coppin would say with girls winning a large number of medals and achieving their personal best. The team had many girls competing up age groups and they performed exceptionally well.
The Junior Relay team of Elizabeth Coulston, Alina Meers, Gia Goldberg and Minty Dusseldorp won a historic gold medal in convincing fashion. Kambala has never won gold in an event which is usually dominated by the larger schools. The trophy has the name of every school who has won since 1961 and now Kambala will be engraved on it for 2025. It was an outstanding achievement to win in the 100th year of IGSA Sport. The team proved hard work, commitment and persistence pay off.
The team trained and raced in the rain in the lead up to IGSA when other schools did not. They were not fazed by the wet conditions in the final with a winning margin of 8 metres. Each team member began her relay career in Junior School and proud coach Ms Sambell said it was as exciting to see them cross the finish line as when she won Commonwealth Relay gold herself!
There were many Individual outstanding performances on track and field.

NSW State Snowsports - DIVISION 1 Alpine NSW State Championships
Kambala’s Snowsports team achieved amazing results at the NSW Interschools Championships! Our Junior School team finished third overall in the Primary Championship. The Senior Alpine team of Sienna Howell, Isabella Hupfau, Lillian Brown and Claudia McKee won the prestigious Amelia Mc Guiness Trophy for winning Gold in Division 1 Alpine.
The team raced extremely well with the final margin between Kambala and Snowy Mountains Grammar being 3 hundredths of a second! Kambala last won the event in 2016 and 17. Year 9 Sienna Howell skied up in this Year 11 and 12 divisions and came away with the individual Bronze medal. The Division 5 team of Emma Kennedy, Lexi Ogane, Georgia Roberston and Olivia Rodriguez won Bronze in Alpine.
Cross Country proved to be a strong event for Kambala with the Junior School Relay team of Emma Kennedy, Lexi Ogane and Olivia Rodriguez winning Gold. The Division 2 team of Sienna Howell, Tali Desmond and Arabella Spence won Bronze. Tali and Arabella had not competed in a cross-country race before but had trained hard and reaped the rewards.
Kambala will have a strong team representing the school in almost every discipline at the Australian Snowsports Championships in Mt Buller.

Kambala 1 Soccer
After a disrupted start to the competition with only one game in the past month, the Kambala 1sts rebounded from the lack of training and game time to come up trumps against a determined Loreto Kirribilli team.
In ideal playing conditions on a synthetic pitch, the Kambala team showed great skill and team play to set up some great finishes ultimately coming through with a 3-0 victory.

IGSA Netball Update
This term, we have two teams competing in the IGSA Netball competition: Senior A and Junior A.
Our Junior A team has made an impressive start to the season, winning their first three games convincingly. Last week, they faced a strong St Vincent’s side and despite a valiant effort, were defeated. Nevertheless, they remain firmly in finals contention and continue to show great promise.
Our Senior A team is competing in Division 1 for the first time in over 25 years, possibly ever! It’s been a challenging start, with two of their first three games played against teams likely to make the finals. However, the team has shown remarkable improvement each week, steadily returning to peak form.
In Round 4 they faced Brigidine, who were sitting third on the ladder. The Kambala girls delivered their best performance of the season, securing a thrilling one-goal victory. Riding that momentum, they went on to win both of their RNA games at Heffron, showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork.
Well done to all our players. You continue to improve every week and make us proud!

Year 3 Netball
After many weeks of training and waiting for the weather to cooperate, our Year 3 netball teams finally had the chance to take to the court under some much-welcomed sunshine!
It was fantastic to see the girls’ enthusiasm and hard work come to life in their gameplay.
Their teamwork, passing and understanding of the game have come such a long way already, it’s clear that all their practice is paying off.
We’re so proud of how far they’ve come, and we’re excited to see their skills continue to grow throughout the rest of the term. Well done Year 3!
