Cave Hill Creek Camp
Last week, all the Grade 6 students and some teachers headed off to Cave Hill Creek for our long awaited camp. After a long bus ride, we arrived and were welcomed by the incredible Cave Hill Creek staff members.
Soon after we settled in, we were told about the ‘Longest Leaf’ competition held by the camp. Mr. Urquhart also brought a raffle jar where students could win either a skateboard or a movie voucher. Then we found out what cabin and activity groups were in.
After unpacking and exploring our cabins, we started off with some activities. The four activity groups were called the Wallabies, Kangaroos, Cockatoos and Platypuses. The activities everyone got to do on the camp were - The Giant’s Ladder, Bush Cooking, Possum Glider, Canoeing, Mountain Bike Riding, Map Reading, Crate Stack and Hut Building.
The most popular activity was definitely the Possum Glider. Some kids went upside down at the top and even Mr. Smith had a go! Second place goes to Canoeing, 6 students capsized their canoe and went for a swim, which was an all time Mano record!
The staff were super helpful and kind during the activities. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of trust, independence and responsibility we were given during the activities and all throughout camp.
A huge thank you to all the teachers, who put in so much work organising and planning camp. Also to Kamahl, our parent helper who came. It was an awesome experience and a very memorable 3 days!
