Year 11 News

Tim Pitt & Emma Hopper,  Year 11 Coordinators

Just a few reminders.

Now is a great time to check in with your teachers about schoolwork. Are you on track with your units? If unsure, please speak to your teachers.

You are the community leaders. Set great examples for the younger students. They look up to you and our community is built on strong positive role models.

It’s getting cold. If students need support with uniform for the incoming cold weather, please send a DM to Hamish.

PE Ice Bath

Year 11 PE Unit 1 AOS 1 finished off looking at Musculoskeletal injuries and how to prevent injuries occurring.

Students spent time working through specific Warm – Ups to ‘raise, activate and mobilise’ such as an AFL group warm up and Dynamic stretching. Cool down is a method to reduce symptoms of DOMS, slowly bring the heart rate and temperature down with static stretching to increase flexibility.

Each student in the class got behind each other and encouraged a ‘have a go attitude’  in recovery method of an Ice bath. The ice bath was around 5 deg and students submerged for 30 sec through to 5 minutes.

Ice baths have been shown to have many benefits including reducing inflammation and muscle soreness after intense activity.
