Mazenod Old Collegians' Association
Our MOCA Community is certainly one united family. The old adage states that all the world is a village, and this is certainly true of our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association. No matter where we go, we are greeted by someone who either attended Mazenod College, or else, whose family was part of Mazenod College. Once again, this was certainly evident in the past few days.
Within a short distance from the College, I was greeted by several of our Old Boys who were giving out how to vote cards for a particular candidate for tomorrow’s Federal Election. Their welcome was so warm and genuine, that I could not help but think that they would be excellent politicians, as they are young men embodying authenticity and integrity. Then, last Sunday, the universal Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of Divine Mercy. I attended the celebration of this Feast Day at a nearby Parish and was so happy to catch up with so many Old Boys and their families.
Sadly, on Wednesday this week, there was a huge contingent of our Old Boys and their families who gathered at St Simon’s Catholic Church, in Rowville, for the Requiem Mass of our beloved Old Boy, Daniel Bau, from the Class of 2007. These included the Parents, Spouses and children of our Old Boys. During this Mass, an overflowing Church united with our love, thoughts and prayers, as we prayed for Daniel’s Soul. We prayed for Daniel to enjoy God’s Eternal love, peace, mercy and joy. We also joined together and prayed for Daniel’s Parents, Dennis and Debbie, his brother, Adam and family, and all his extended family and friends. Daniel’s Dad, Dennis, is an Old Boy from the Class of 1974, and his brother, Adam, is an Old Boy from the Class of 2009. The Mass was celebrated by our beloved former Rectors, Fr Michael Twigg OMI and Fr Patrick Moroney OMI. Many of our Old Boys were involved in different roles in the Requiem Mass. Despite the immense sadness we felt, we all left this Mass filled with hope and joy. For Catholics, death means that life has changed and not ended. Let us continue to pray for our beautiful Daniel’s Soul. and may Almighty God strengthen and console all of Daniel’s family and friends in their grief.
May Almighty God grant Eternal Rest to Daniel, O Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon him. May Daniel’s Soul Rest in Peace. Amen.
