SchoolTV has launched a special report on shaping healthy masculinity. The release of the television TV series Adolescence has highlighted some of the complex and often hidden challenges facing young people today. Young males in particular are exposed to messages that glorify toughness and dominance, while dismissing empathy, vulnerability and kindness. Even well-meaning online searches can lead to content that promotes rigid or unhealthy ideas about masculinity.

This special report outlines the influences this information can have on young people today. By role modelling, providing spaces to talk, and encouraging respectful friendships, especially across genders, we can help young people develop the confidence, empathy and relationship skills they need to thrive.
