Celebrating our Histo

95 Years of Performing Arts

This year is the 95th anniversary of both the 'musical' and 'drama' clubs/events at Kinross Wolaroi School.

Wolaroi College established a Dramatic Society on 15 March 1930 - performances were the trial scene from The Merchant of Venice, The Head of the House (specially written by the boys) and 'Ici on parle Francais' - described as a 'sparkling farce'.

Wolaroi College also established a Musical Club on 5 June 1930. Its purpose was, 'to provide amusement and interest, particularly on Saturday evenings.'  The First concern included recitals - pieces by Chopin, songs sung by the boys and the Headmaster (there's a thought!) and community singing - Waltzing Matilda, My Old Kentucky Home, Old and Good Night Ladies.
