National Simultaneous Storytime
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) was today!!
We all enjoyed The Truck Cat, written and illustrated by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell. Our school was one of 16, 632 locations and over 2,204,658 people to read along. I’m sure many cats joined in on the fun too. We had a special visit from a trucker who loves any excuse to draw on a moustache and wear a costume.
National Simultaneous Storytime is in its 25th year. It is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6. The Truck Cat is about a cat named Tinka that travels around in a truck with their owner, Yacoub. The last page sums up the message in the story in a lovely way. Home is everywhere.
Our library wall is looking amazing with over 90 photos and drawings of furry friends reading together. The aim is to include a pic of every student in the school! So if you are wanting to email, print or draw a pic of your child with a furry friend, please do.
Here are some snaps from today. Enjoy!
Happy Reading Folks!
