Grade Prep/1

Week 8 is already here, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the term is flying by — the holidays will be here before we know it!
Our Prep/1 students have had a busy and productive fortnight, full of exciting learning experiences across all areas of the curriculum.
In Reading, we’ve been exploring a beautiful collection of books written by Adam Goodes, including Somebody’s Land, Back on Country, and Ceremony. These texts have sparked rich classroom discussions as we learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
In Writing, we’ve been focusing on building strong sentence structure. The students have been learning the difference between a sentence and a fragment and have enjoyed the challenge of turning incomplete thoughts into full, meaningful sentences. We’ve also been revisiting important punctuation rules like starting with a capital letter and ending with a full stop.
In Mathematics, our focus has shifted to sequencing events. We’ve been thinking about the order of activities in our day and learning to describe what happens first, next, then, and last.
It’s been a wonderful few weeks of learning.
