State Budget Funding Announcement

I was pleased to receive a call earlier this week from MP Paul Hamer, letting me know that our school had been allocated some funding in the upcoming State Budget. The funding is to complete the next stage of development around the new climbing frame, incorporating natural and sensory elements to further work towards play spaces that are exciting, yet promoting safe exploration and inclusivity.

Development of this area is a key part of our ongoing Master Plan for landscaping around the school and we're excited to see what the finished product will look like!

Paul will be attending our assembly next Friday to make an official announcement to our community, although the funding is not officially locked in until the Budget is passed into legislation by the Parliament in upcoming sittings.

Assuming that goes smoothly, the Victorian School Building Authority will then work with us in planning for the project in the new financial year.

Student Respectful Relationships Presentation

Student Wellbeing Leaders Shine at Inner East Respectful Relationships Forum

We are incredibly proud of our Student Wellbeing Leaders, London and Elsi, who represented Roberts McCubbin Primary School at this year’s Inner East Respectful Relationships Forum. The forum focused on overcoming challenges in implementing Respectful Relationships education, and London and Elsi spoke with insight, honesty, and heart.

Their presentation, “Celebrating Diversity and Respect,” highlighted the importance of creating a school environment where everyone feels safe, included, and valued. They shared how our Respectful Relationships program helps students understand empathy, equality, and the impact of racism and stereotypes, both in and out of the classroom.

Drawing on recent learning during Harmony Week, London and Elsi spoke about the importance of being upstanders, people who speak out and take action when they see bullying, racism, or unfair treatment. They reminded us that even small actions, like including others or challenging a stereotype, can make a big difference.

Their message was clear: diversity is our strength, and we all have a role in making our school community respectful, inclusive, and kind.

Well done, London and Elsi, your leadership and commitment to wellbeing inspire us all!

Reports, Parent-Teacher Meetings & Student-Free Day

Teaching staff are currently working hard on student reports to reflect on progress across the first two terms of 2025. Many hours of effort go into compiling these reports, including analysing assessments across the semester and reflecting on student goals and classroom effort.

To support the accuracy and consistency of these reports, a large focus of our upcoming Student-Free Day (Friday 6th June) will be on 'moderation' - a process where teachers compare student data and work samples, tracking them against the curriculum to assign progression levels in each of the major areas of the curriculum.

Reports will be released in the final week of this term via Compass, followed by Parent-Teacher meetings to discuss student progress. This year, these meetings will be held on Wednesday 30th of July, from 2pm onwards. Information related to how to book these meetings will come out towards the end of term.

Our thanks to teachers for their time in preparing reports and hosting these meetings, as well as to our wonderfully supportive parents and carers for working with staff to ensure positive school outcomes for all students.
