Room 1 Years 3 -6

Hello everyone!
It's been a wonderful week in Room 1 with plenty of exciting moments to celebrate. We are thrilled to welcome two new students to our class community – Angie (Grade 4) and Ebony (Grade 3). They've settled in beautifully, and I'm incredibly proud of how warmly they’ve been received. It's heartening to see the kindness and inclusivity shown by our students as they help new classmates feel right at home.
We wrapped up Wednesday with a class party to celebrate reaching our class goal: "Giving things a go!" It also happened to be Ebony’s first day—what perfect timing to join in on the fun! And what a celebration it was! From lolly bowls, jelly cups, cupcakes and cake, to slices, cookies, and chips, we had enough food to feed a small army—we were nearly rolling out the door by 3:00pm!
A huge thank you goes out to all the parents and families who generously contributed treats for our party. We also want to give a big shout-out to Miss Maddy for creating an exciting pass-the-parcel game filled with stickers and squishy dinosaurs. We rounded out the afternoon with games like Bobs and Statues and musical chairs, with plenty of laughter and singing along the way. After all the hard work our class has put in this semester, it was so rewarding to spend the afternoon having fun and strengthening our bonds as a team. Go Room 1!
On Thursday, I participated in the SafeMinds online program which aims to enhance early intervention mental health support for children in schools. Central to SAFEMinds is the 'NIP it in the bud!' approach—Notice, Inquire, Plan—which equips school staff to identify early warning signs of mental health concerns, engage sensitively with students, and plan appropriate supports. The program also offers resources for parents and carers to support their child's mental health and wellbeing at home. I have attached some of these resources in the document below :)
