Today is a great day to be you!

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

On Monday afternoon, our RRRR school leader, Year 3 teacher Danielle Anderson, presented to our whole staff about the Respectful Relationships' curriculum. As a lead school in this space, we strongly support the RRRR program and it was a great refresher for our staff, who explored the evidence and reasoning for the continued implementation of this program.

Thank you Danielle for your knowledge, passion and leadership in this space!

Attitudes to School Survey

Our Year 4-6 students have begun participating the Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS).

This anonymous survey provides our students with a valuable opportunity to provide their voice and feedback on how we are travelling as a school, in their eyes. The survey is voluntary, so if there are any questions that they would prefer not to respond to, they all have the right to pass and move on to the next question.

The data we gain from this survey is extremely important to us as a school. Once all students have participated and we receive our results from the Department, we will explore the outcomes with staff, followed by reporting back to the students and our wider school community. This will include smaller focus groups with select students to further dig into the data and ensure student voice is included in any changes/ideas for the future.

If any parents or carers would like more information, please contact the office.

National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week

In a couple of weeks, we will recognise National Sorry Day and then Reconciliation Week.

National Sorry Day is held every year on May 26th, with Reconciliation Week running from May 27th to June 3rd.

Our Marrung Leads, Jen Bonte and Kyla Petrilli, have been working hard behind the scenes to support all of our levels with relevant resources and activities for our students to explore. Students across all levels will engage in age-appropriate lessons to recognise National Reconciliation Week and learn more about what we can do everyday as we strive to achieve equity, inclusion and fairness for all.

Gratitude Spotting!

Gratitude is a big focus for us across Term 2.

If you have spotted anyone in our Rangeview community displaying gratitude or appreciation towards another community member, please let us know! You can email me at liam.sommers@education.vic.gov.au - I would love to hear some stories of gratitude from our students and families.

We will aim to acknowledge and share some of these moments at future school assemblies!

Some benefits of practising gratitude are:

  • After 21 days, you start to scan the world for positives.
  • After 42 days you become:
    • More optimistic, energised & focused.
    • Less likely to get sick.
    • You will sleep better.
    • Anxiety and depression decreases.

A few quick and simple ways to practise being grateful are:

  • Journaling; each night write down 3 things that went well for you that day or purchase a gratitude journal with gratitude prompts.
  • Write a gratitude letter to someone special, telling them why you are grateful they are in your life.
  • Have a family discussion on the way home from school or around the dinner table about the things that went well that day or made you smile.
