Every Week is Education Week at Deer Park West PS

Education Week will be celebrated across Victoria from May 19th – 23rd, with this year’s theme, ‘Celebration of Cultures’. This is a wonderful opportunity for schools to showcase the rich, diverse learning experiences that take place in classrooms every day.

At Deer Park West Primary School, we believe that every week is Education Week. Learning is something we value, celebrate, and share with our community all year round. Our school is built on a foundation of respect, inclusivity and high expectations — and we recognise that education thrives when students, teachers, and families work together.

Throughout the year, we provide many opportunities to open our doors and highlight the incredible learning happening across all year levels. Some of the ways we do this include:

  • Celebrations of Learning each term, where families are invited into classrooms to see first-hand the projects, investigations and achievements of their children.
  • Foundation parents’ afternoon teas, giving our newest families a chance to connect, learn about their child’s school journey, and celebrate milestones together.
  • Sharing student learning through Seesaw, which allows families to follow along with classroom activities, view student work, and engage in their child’s progress in real-time.
  • Displays of student work throughout our corridors, where visitors can see vibrant examples of writing, art, inquiry projects and maths investigations proudly presented across the school.
  • Cultural celebrations and events, where our diverse community comes together to honour and learn from the many backgrounds and languages that make up our school family.

This year’s Education Week theme, ‘Celebration of Cultures’, aligns beautifully with who we are as a school. We are proud to reflect the diversity of our Deer Park community, and we encourage students to share their stories, languages, traditions and perspectives every day — not just during Education Week. Together, we make education a partnership and a shared celebration.
