Year 5 Assembly

On Monday the 23rd of July the year five’s had anassembly it was about an empathy time machine andwhat lessons we learnt at school such as poems,endangered animals, church through the years and prepbuddies and how they were all connected to empathyand caring for others we rehearsed the scriptAnd practised our rolls and we were all excited and fullof emotions and feelings.

The Year 5 assembly was about our experiences with learning, including Poetry, Inquiry, Religion, and Buddies, and how we have learned through these experiences. We all worked like our lives depended on it, and through teamwork we got to the end with nothing left to practise.

For writing, we had to make a poem using a similar format to I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth, and Zoe was chosen to say her poem in front of the whole school. Her poem was pretty good.

For Religion, we had to create a poster on the liturgical calendar. I chose Christmas and explained how Jesus was born. Jesus was born to Mary. An angel came to Mary's house and asked if she would have a baby called Jesus Christ. The king did not want a new king, so he sent a man to kill Jesus and Mary. However, they were protected by God, and Jesus was born safely.

For Inquiry, we learned about endangered animals. Some of the animals we researched were the Southern Right Whale, She-oak Skink, Regent Honeyeater and Tasmanian Devil. It is amazing how beautiful these animals are, and it is also very sad that they are endangered.

Buddies are for companionship, support and more. You work together to help each other with everything, like maths, writing or anything else you need to work on. My buddy, Noah, is a great kid who actually likes to learn, and when you get to know him, you learn lots of things about him, like his favourite food, favourite colour and what he likes doing. My buddy likes hot dogs, enjoys getting outside to kick a ball, loves playing soccer and I know he loves his sister because I can see it on his face.
