The Resilience Project - Year 1

During Wellbeing, students played games and reflected on the importance of having rules in place to promote fairness, safety and consideration of others. They learned that empathy means making choices that are kind, fair and supportive. Students discovered that there are many ways they can show empathy when playing games with others and realised the benefits of having rules in place.

To continue this learning at home, you could read the book, "What if everybody did that?" by Ellen Javernick (it is also on YouTube here), then ask your child to reflect on the story by asking the following:

• Why did everyone keep saying ‘What if everybody did that?’.
• What were the different people in the community trying to tell the boy?
• Why are rules important in our school and local community? E.g., to keep us safe, to consider the feelings of others, to be kind, to include others, to be fair, to help us learn, etc.
