Year 6 Confirmation Program - Commitment Masses

On the 25th and 26th of July the Year 6 students attended the confirmation commitment masses. The Commitment Mass signalled the start of our journey to receiving the sacrament of Confirmation. At the end of the Mass, we all 

said a pledge to follow in God's footsteps, received a blessing from Father Andrew and Father Jean- Sebastien. The parish community prayed over us to keep us safe and assist us during this special time. We also put our dove artworks around the church as a symbol of hope and peace. We ended the mass with a blessing from Father Andrew and Father Jean- Sebastien for everyone.

What we are learning about in class about Confirmation

During school hours, we are learning about Confirmation for example the sacraments of initiation which in chronological order include Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and lastly Confirmation and the 7 gifts of the spirit, we also did a mosaic of a dove and soon we will learn about different Saints.

 

Gifts of the holy spirit are:

  • Wisdom - Knowing what is truly important.
  • Understanding - Seeing situations through God's eyes.
  • Counsel - Making good decisions.
  • Fortitude - Being brave enough to do what is right
  • Knowledge - Growing closer to God by learning
  • Piety - Wanting a Close relation with God
  • Wonder and awe - Recognising God’s greatness

 

The Year 6 students look forward to growing closer to God.

Sacrament of Confirmation Reminders 

As we move closer to the Sacrament of Confirmation, here are a few important reminders:

 

Confirmation Family Night    

Date: Wednesday 5th August

Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pmLocation: Performing Arts Building

 

Your child is required to attend with at least one parent or caregiver (additional family members are welcome to attend).

 

Confirmation Reflection Day (during school hours-students only)Date: Thursday 6th August Location: Holy Cross Centre, Templestowe  

Confirmation Medal MassesYour child is required to attend one of the following Masses:

  • Saturday 8th August – 5:00 pm
  • Sunday 9th August – 8:30 am
  • Sunday 9th August – 11:30 am
