Principal Reflections

From the Principal - Alison

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,

Ash Wednesday

Yesterday our primary students and staff joined with Fr Ross O'Brien and Fr Roel and parishioners for our Ash Wednesday Mass. Ash Wednesday signals the start of Lent. For forty days we are asked to reflect on ourselves and how we can be better and do better. The three elements for a change of heart include prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Our Kindergarten students also had the opportunity to take part in a special liturgy and receive the ashes. Thank you to Fr Roel for celebrating this Mass with us and to Mrs Sally Clarke for organising both of these special events.

2024 School Leaders Induction

On Tuesday 20th February at 9.30am, we will be inducting our new 2024 School Leaders with a special celebration at Mary Help of Christians Church. This marks the start of a new era for our school and for you. Leadership doesn't always have to come from those in charge of big groups or powerful organisations, 'Leadership is influence —John C. Maxwell'.

Leadership starts with the individual. It starts with the choices you make, the values you hold, and the actions you take.

So, I want you to ask yourself:

What kind of leader do you want to be?

What kind of impact do you want to have on the world around you?

Remember that every small step counts. Every time you make a positive choice, every time you stand up for what you believe in, every time you help someone in need, you are making a difference. And that difference can add up to something big, something truly inspiring.

With your continued support, we can make not only St Edward's a better place, but help to contribute positively to our community.

I wish you all the best for 2024! I look forward to celebrating this important event with you next Tuesday.

Reading is Rocket Science

On Tuesday evening we hosted our Oral Language and Reading Workshop for our new Kindy parents and carers. Our workshop emphasised the crucial role of reading and developing oral language by expanding your children's vocabulary and fostering language proficiency. We thank our dedicated Kindergarten teachers, Mrs Sheridan and our Leadership members for sharing their expertise. A big thank you to the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to join us for this workshop.

I am looking forward to catching some of you at our swimming carnival tomorrow.

Keep smiling,

Alison Hatton
