Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday for the 'Welcome Afternoon Tea'. Hopefully you enjoyed the opportunity to have a chat and sample some of treats before they all vanished!  As a staff, we really appreciate that so many families were able to come and also contribute to our whole school artwork, which is looking fantastic!  This is on display in the foyer, along with extra puzzle pieces for anyone who missed out.  It is not too late to add your piece and make the puzzle complete!

Thank you also to everyone who came out to support last week's swimming sports.  We really appreciate all the support we had, which helped to make the day run so smoothly.  A big shout out to Steph for all her organisation before, during and after the event, and to all staff for their support on the day.  It was wonderful to see and hear so many students taking part in the events and supporting their team along the way!

Congratulations to all students on their participation and to Mitta Red, who took out first place, followed by Indigo Blue, Kiewa Green and Murray Yellow.  As a result of their achievement, a number of students will have now qualified to go on to compete at the Upper Hume Division Swim Carnival on Friday 16th February.

This week our Year 6 students received their new Year 6 t-shirt.  The design, which was created and chosen by students has had lots of favourable comments and is one they can all be proud to wear!

Tomorrow, families are invited to join us at the Mountain Monk Brewery for the Friday night raffle.  This is an important fundraising activity for our school, which will go towards the purchase of new soccer nets and post padding for the netball courts.  Ticket sales commence from 5.30pm and the raffle draws will begin at 7pm.  We hope to see you there!

On Monday, the 12th of February, all students in Years 5/6, will have the opportunity to travel to Albury for an Open Water Learning Experience, run by Life Saving Victoria.  This bi-annual and highly valued program focusses on developing students' knowledge and practical water safety skills, while swimming in open waters such as rivers.  Please finalise consent and payment on Compass by tomorrow, Friday 9th February.

Tomorrow, we will have our first Friday assembly for the term and all classes will be presenting for this assembly.  Unfortunately, the CASEA team have had to postpone tomorrow's planned visit.  This will be rescheduled and we will provide you with further information asap.

Breakfast Club resumed this week, thanks to support from Red Cross, Deirdre, Kath and OSCH. Many thanks also to Food Share and Food Bank for their ongoing support of this program.

Thanks to Kathryn and the Mount Beauty Tennis Club, we are again offering lunch time tennis on Wednesdays, for all students in years 3-6.
