NAPLAN Tests in March 2024

Important Information for Parents/ Carers

The NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) period for 2024 for Year 3 and 5 students will be held earlier this year from Wednesday the 13th March to Friday the 22nd March.  NAPLAN tests seek to measure student  performance standards across writing, reading, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The results of the NAPLAN tests provide information for students, parents, and the school.Testing data is used to inform teaching programs leading to improved student achievement.

All students (Years 3 & 5) are expected to participate in NAPLAN tests. Students who are absent on test days, will have the opportunity to undertake the NAPLAN tests on a separate day during test week.

Support can be arranged for students with disabilities if the student uses similar support for classroom tasks. Exemptions may be granted to students with significant intellectual disabilities and to students who have been  learning English for less than one year. There will be further communication regarding exemptions in future newsletters.

Later in the year you will receive your child's personal NAPLAN report. The report will describe your child's particular results from the Reading, Writing, Spelling, Language Conventions and Numeracy testing. The report will also show how your child performed in relation to Australian minimum standards.
