Embracing Our Advantage
We trust you have been refreshed and renewed over the break and look forward to continuing to partner with you as we glorify and honour God through Christ-centred education. We would like to especially welcome new parents to our community.
While many of you were getting ready to return to school and enjoying the last few days of holidays, our new staff completed two days of orientation then joined remaining staff for O-Week. O-Week is a special time where we prepare spiritually and practically for the year ahead through devotions & worship, various meetings, child-safety & WHS training, and professional development.
I wanted to share with you a glimpse of the four devotions that were shared with staff during O-Week, in hope that you too, can look at embracing the advantage we have as believers as we look towards a new year.
- God is flying the plane
On Wednesday, I shared with the team that teaching can be a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous profession - and that sometimes it can feel like we are building the plane while already flying it. Considering the challenges we often face, we can be comforted knowing our advantage as believers is knowing that God is in control and flying the plane. - The coxswain in our boat
On Thursday, I shared with the team some videos about navigating changes and a clip from Admiral McRaven - we are in the boat together! I challenged staff to consider how we navigate the future while embracing our advantage. - Our support crew
On Monday, Phill van Ryn shared with us about his passion for long distant running and spoke about the importance of having a support crew. Who is in your crew? - Experiencing true freedom
On Tuesday, Graeme Smith shared with us about the freedom we have in Christ, how we experience and live with this knowledge.
Once again, on behalf of the whole team, welcome to 2024 at LCS. We look forward to a wonderful year. I encourage you all to hold on to the words of Philippians 4:6, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. May we all endeavour to keep this close to our hearts, especially our Kindergarten and Year 7 students as they start a new chapter, and our Year 12 students as their final year with us begins.
Yours in Christ, Stuart Kent
