Welcome to 2024 Sports!
Welcome to an exciting and jam-packed Term of sports at
St. Mary College! As the Sports Coordinator, it brings me immense joy to be involved with our school community in sport and create an environment filled with athleticism, teamwork, and spirited competition. Our commitment to fostering a vibrant sporting culture is stronger than ever, and I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with you.
College Swimming Carnival Returns after 3 years!
Staff and students are getting ready to make a splash at our much-anticipated College Swimming Carnival on Friday 16th February! This event promises a day of camaraderie and friendly competition, setting the stage for an unforgettable Term of swimming. For the College Swimming Carnival, we encourage all students to show off their house pride by dressing up in their house colors. McAuley supporters, don the regal Royal Blue, while Padua enthusiasts, shimmer in vibrant Gold. Please note, however, that colored hairspray is a splash-free zone! We want everyone to enjoy the day without any unwanted hair dye adventures. Families of Year 3 and 4 students, this marks their inaugural swimming carnival experience! Information has been sent your way, so you're well-prepared for a day of fun and cheering. Students have been busy gearing up for the events, and we can wait to witness their enthusiasm in the pool. On the day of the College Swimming Carnival, our Year 11 VM students will be running a BBQ onsite, ensuring everyone stays fueled and energized. Moreover, a plethora of engaging activities awaits, promising a day filled with laughter, enjoyment, and perhaps a friendly splash or two.
Additional Term 1 Sporting Events
The excitement continues with the College Athletics Carnival on Monday, 26th February, followed by various swimming events throughout the term, concluding with the Secondary Round Robin. Stay tuned for more details for the upcoming events.
Community Sporting Achievements
We believe in celebrating not only the victories within our school walls but also the triumphs outside. If any of our students have achieved notable feats in sports outside of school, we want to know! Kindly contact me via email, courtney.aldous@smseymour.catholic.edu.au with the details of their accomplishments, so we can celebrate and showcase the remarkable achievements of our St. Mary's sports stars.
To kick us off I would like to congratulate the following students who have recently qualified for the Victorian Country Long Course Championships and are valued members of the local swimming club, The Seymour Sharks; Sienna Lynch (Yr 8), Ava Gordon (Yr 6), Isabel Gordon (Yr 6), Charlotte Lynch (Yr 6), Jack Lomax (Yr 5) and Oliver Kingston (Yr 10).
We would also like to send a huge congratulations to Year 10 student’s, Chloe D’Elia and Josh Porter who were selected in the 2024 Murray Bushrangers Squad. Both Chloe and Josh are dedicated sportspeople that demonstrate how to balance school-life and sporting commitments for their peers. Well done Chloe and Josh on your achievement and we cannot wait to hear about your success this season!
I look forward to witnessing the passion and talent that our students bring to each sporting event. Here to a semester of victories, cheers, and memorable moments!
