Principal's Report

Principal Report

As we conclude yet another school year, it is with a sense of deep satisfaction to be able reflect that 2023 has been another successful, rewarding year at East Doncaster Secondary College.

Yet again, our students have had a vast array of opportunities to embrace the diverse and exciting experiences, both inside the classroom and out, at our College.

I warmly thank and acknowledge our teachers and support staff who have been committed to ensuring the learning and wellbeing of students has been our priority. I would also like to express my appreciation of the outstanding leadership provided by our Assistant Principals, Karen Boyle, Cameron Campbell and Jas Kaur, to our School Council led by Cyrus Tengra, and Parent and Friends Association led by Aban Tengra who all provide enormous support and guidance for our College.

I would like to thank all our parents once again for their support throughout the year and look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you in the education of your children in 2024 and beyond.

Finally, to our students, I would like to commend you on your efforts, your leadership and application and encourage you to keep trying to do your best and to be your best in all elements of your school experience here at EDSC. Not every day will be perfect, not every interaction will be positive, not every effort will be rewarded, but the steps you make, day by day, will lead you in the right direction.

VCE Results 2023

The VCAA (Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority) released the 2023 VCE results on Monday morning. I am very proud to say that our students again performed incredibly well.

Our median VCE study score was 33.

3 of our students achieved an ATAR of 99 or above.

33 of our students achieved an ATAR of 95 or above.

30% of our students received an ATAR over 90 – that is better than one in three of our VCE students achieving such a high benchmark.

55% of our students received an ATAR over 80.

Our average ATAR was 79 – the state average was 69.4.

Three students received a study score of 50, thus placing them in the top 0.3% in the state:

Samuel Ting ( Chemistry)

Belle Shi  (English)

Montana Basille (English)

These results, I believe, strongly reinforce the direction we are taking to seek continual improvement in student learning outcomes at our College and is a credit to students and teachers alike.

DUX of the COLLEGE

It is my pleasure to announce that the 2023 joint Dux of the College are Belle Shi and Samuel Ting who gained an ATAR of 99.85 – a truly outstanding achievement!

We were so pleased to see the dedication and application of both students rewarded with this outcome. Belle and Samuel worked extremely hard and with great diligence as VCE students.

At our College Presentation Evening conducted last evening, we were delighted to have the opportunity to present the Dux of the College awards to both Belle and Samuel, who made outstanding acceptance speeches that reflected their intellect, humility, gratitude and warmth.

We warmly congratulate Belle and Samuel, they are outstanding young people.

As stated previously, we wish our entire Year 12 cohort all the very best and are very proud of their effort, persistence and resilience.
