Holiday Works

Welcome back to all of our families. I hope you all had a restful, rewarding and enjoyable holiday period. The school was a buzz of activity throughout January with a range of school improvement and maintenance works being completed. These included:

  • New carpet installed in the library
  • New CCTV system installed throughout the school
  • Gutter and roof clean
  • All synthetic surfaces serviced and cleaned
  • New signage installed at our office entry
  • Blinds installed in Indonesian Room and Rooms 17-20
  • New chairs delivered for Year 5 students
  • Fence works along the fitness track
  • Steam cleaning in the Admin Area and Foundation building
  • Exterior window cleaning

Alongside our school-led works, we are pleased to announce that the building works as part of our Minor Capital Works Grant are close to completion. This has included a range of roofing works including the installation of new guttering, beams, flashings, roof sheets and skylights in an effort to make our Art room, Level 2 and Portable buildings watertight. Pleasingly, the works have also included the installation of new carpet in two classrooms and a range of plastering, patching and painting. The works, especially to the Level 2 classrooms, have left the rooms looking bright and fresh and will hopefully enable us to conduct further improvement works such as painting and carpeting in the future.

Meet the Teacher Interviews

Just a reminder that our Meet the Teacher interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, 14 February (3:30pm - 5:00pm) and Thursday, 15 February (3:30 pm - 7:30 pm). These interviews will give parents the opportunity to discuss how their child has settled into their 2024 classroom and to provide the teacher with any further information about their child. Bookings are open and can be made via Compass.

Victorian High Ability Program

I am pleased to announce that we have six students currently taking part in the Term 1 intake of the Victorian-High Ability Program. The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) enables high-ability students in Years 5-8, at all Victorian State Schools, to be challenged and extended in a supportive environment. These students are selected by the Student Excellence Unit of the Department of Education to take part in weekly online lessons focusing on either English or Maths. The program is a safe space for high-ability students to stretch their wings, encounter change and challenge, and confront fears around making “mistakes.” Park Ridge Primary School had approximately 30 enrolments in VHAP courses in 2023 and we look forward to continuing to provide this extension activity for our highly-abled Year 5 and 6 students in 2024.
