Speaking and Listening - Fairy Bread
When Early Stage 1 (ES1) students engaged in making fairy bread, there were several valuable speaking and listening benefits:
Following Instructions: Students listened carefully to the steps for making fairy bread, enhancing their ability to follow oral directions.
Vocabulary Development: They learnt and used new words related to the activity, such as "spread," "butter," "sprinkles," "slice," and "serve."
Turn-Taking and Communication: When making fairy bread in a group, students practised taking turns to speak and listen, improving social communication skills.
Expressing Preferences: Children could express their likes and dislikes, for example, which sprinkles they prefer, which supports their expressive language skills.
Asking and Answering Questions: They may asked questions about the process or ingredients and responded to prompts, fostering interactive dialogue.
Sequencing Language: Students described the sequence of steps, helping them understand and use language related to order and time.
Building Confidence: Speaking in a small group setting while involved in an enjoyable activity boosts communication confidence.
Science - Digital Technologies
Throughout Term 3, Kindergarten learnt about computers and technologies used in their world. They had fun making their own laptops. On Buzz Day, they were extremely excited and engaged when using the iPads at school.
Literacy - Let's Eat!
Kindergarten have been discussing and writing about their favourite foods and the foods they like to share with their families.
