LIBRARY NEWS

Mrs Hindmarch

Hello families and welcome back to Term 4 in the library!

I hope you all had a restful holiday break! My name is Mrs Hindmarch, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Teacher Librarian here at Green Valley Public School.

I have been a teacher for 13 years, coming from a tiny but mighty little school in the Southern Highlands. Students have loved hearing how small my school is, often smaller than their own class! I am married with three daughters under 9 and one of our favourite things to do together is read. So, whether students are avid readers, library regulars, dedicated monitors or just beginning to explore all the amazing resources this library has to offer, I’m excited to support and guide them on their learning journey.

Students have already settled back into their reading routines and are enthusiastic to show me how their library works and what stories are their favourites. So far, I've come to realise anything sport related, graphic novels and the ever-popular Andy Lee series of Do Not Open This Book are at the very top of the list.

I look forward to working with all of you, so we can make the library an inspiring and supportive space for everyone. Please feel free to stop by, introduce yourself, or reach out if you ever have any questions, book recommendations, or ideas.

Mrs Ali

A big congratulations to all of the amazing students who took part in this year's Premier's Reading Challenge. We are proud to announce 201 students successfully completed the challenge which is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the strong reading culture here at GVPS. Thank you to all of the families and teachers for supporting our readers along the way, your encouragement makes a huge difference!

As the term progresses, we'll continue focusing on building reading confidence and exploring a variety of exciting new titles. Students are encouraged to borrow regularly and spend a little time each day reading at home.

Friendly Reminder

Please help your child keep track of their borrowed books and return them on time so everyone has the chance to enjoy our library collection. Also, don't forget to pack your child's library bag on their library day so they can borrow books and earn Dojo points for being responsible readers!

Due to a stocktake in the final weeks of term, the last borrowing week for classes will be Week 7. Could students please ensure all borrowed books are returned by Week 8 to assist us with this.

Happy reading and well done once again to our enthusiastic readers for such an outstanding effort this year!
