WELCOME to TERM 4

Dear families welcome back to term four. This is the final term of the 2025 school year.  Spring is here, bringing warmer weather and a renewed sense of energy to our days. I'm looking forward to a purpose filled and productive term, in particular, the upcoming year 6 graduation and Kinder to Foundation Transitions. Although it will be a busy term each day will bring small victories giving us a sense of purpose and achievement. 

Your ongoing support helps turn our busy schedule into meaningful learning experiences and we thank all our families and carers for their efforts. 

I'm looking forward to sharing another exciting term with you and thank all our teachers for making this possible.

NEW STAFF - WELCOME

We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding leaders to our school community Anita Calore and Timothy Brown who will serve as our new Acting Assistant Principals in term four, overseeing wellbeing at Meadows Primary School.

Both Anita Calore and Timothy Brown bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will support the wellbeing and growth of all our students. 

Anita Calore comes with extensive insight in student support services in particular the Disability Inclusion model, that has been rolled out in the Hume Merri-bek region this year. She has a deep commitment to fostering and nurturing a positive school climate and is proactive in wellbeing initiatives that empower students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Timothy Brown complements our team with years of experience in student wellbeing including a background as a senior social worker. He holds a Master of Teaching and his expertise lies in social emotional learning curriculum, evidence-based strategies that promote resilience and positive mental health and wellbeing. Mr Timothy Brown is currently also team teaching in 56D two days a week, strengthening the collaboration between student’s staff and community partners. 

SCHOOL REVEW

I wanted to inform you that our school is currently undergoing a formal school review process during term four. This review is an opportunity to reflect on our strengths and identify areas for growth and ensure we are delivering the best possible learning experience for every student in our school.

What to expect

The review team, led by Natalie Toohey Intensive School Support Specialist will visit the school to observe classrooms, review school planning documents, meet with staff, students and families. 

We will be holding parent/Carer focus group session on Monday the 10th of November at 9:00am onsite. I encourage any parents/carers who would like to participate in the focus group for our school review to meet in the welcome area on this day. Morning tea a light refreshment will be provided. 

By attending the upcoming focus group session, you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts and provide feedback. 

The dates for the fieldwork days are as follows:

• 14th of October Tuesday
• 16th of October Thursday
• 28th of October Tuesday
• 7th of November Friday
• 10th of November Monday

Final Day- TBC. This will involve sharing findings and setting new directions, including goals, target, and key improvement strategies for the next School Strategic Plan.

STUDENT ENROLMENT & 2026 CLASS PLACEMENT 

We are at the beginning stages of starting the student class placement process for 2026.

To help me better understand placing your child in the best class in 2026, I ask that you please write to me with any information or requests. Please note you may NOT request a particular teacher. I will consider all other information provided. 

Letters can be emailed to the school’s email meadows.ps@education.vic.gov.au addressed to the Principal Mrs Figen Mustafa. Written letters can also be handed in to the front office in a sealed envelope. If you prefer to discuss this in person, please speak to our office staff about making an appointment with me. All letters and discussions are confidential and will not be shared.

I will stress that once the class placement process has commenced it is difficult to make changes. if you have any concerns, you need me to know about you must put it in writing. 

Families Leaving Meadows P.S. in 2026

To any of our families who, for whatever reason, know they will be leaving and not returning to Meadows Primary School in 2026 to please let us know as soon as possible. 

You can either let me know or our office staff. This information is helpful with staffing and student placements for the new school year. We want to ensure all decisions made for 2026 are accurate and relevant.

All requests must be submitted by Friday 7th of November.
