STEM - Year 7
Alex Papanotas - STEM Teacher

Students have been investigating principles of engineering, specifically the correct use of support structures according to budget, materials, load and distance. Students performed an online investigation followed by a tour of the school with Mr Papanotas where they could appreciate first hand these different engineering principles. The culmination of their investigation was to build scale models of differing engineering load bearing structures and test which designs are best.
Pictured are Year 7 students investigating these designs during the practical class.
In future weeks students will then apply said knowledge and skills to their flood shelter models using the STEM principals of problem, solution, empathy, design, prototype, test and redesign.
