Year 10 Tent Set-up

With camp just around the corner, our Year 10 Outdoor Education students took to the school oval to practice one of the most essential camping skills – setting up a tent! ⛺

Under the guidance of their teachers, students worked in small teams to learn how to assemble, secure, and pack away their tents efficiently and safely. The session wasn’t just about setting up shelter, but a valuable hands-on exercise in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Students quickly discovered that success relied on collaboration, patience, and attention to detail, especially when managing ropes, poles, and unpredictable wind gusts!

This practical activity forms part of the students’ preparation for their highly anticipated Outdoor Education camp at Wilsons Promontory National Park, where they’ll put their skills to the test in a real outdoor setting. The camp will give them the opportunity to explore one of Victoria’s most beautiful natural environments while developing resilience, independence, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.

By the end of the session, the oval was dotted with perfectly pitched tents and plenty of proud smiles to match. It was a great reminder that learning outside the classroom can be just as rewarding, especially when it’s filled with teamwork, laughter, and the promise of adventure ahead.
