It's a bird... it's a plane!

Year 7 Paper Plane Challenge ✈️

The Year 7 Paper Plane Class Challenge was an exciting and light-hearted event that brought out the creativity, curiosity, and competitive spirit of our students. Each student was tasked with designing and crafting their own paper plane, experimenting with different folds, weights, and designs to achieve the perfect balance of distance, accuracy, and airtime.

The challenge encouraged students to think like engineers by testing, tweaking, and refining their designs to improve performance. Throughout the activity, classrooms buzzed with excitement as students shared ideas, compared strategies, and cheered each other on. It wasn’t just about whose plane could fly the farthest, but about collaboration, problem-solving, and perseverance.

Teachers were impressed by the range of creative designs, from classic dart-shaped models to more experimental gliders. The event concluded with a fun “fly-off” where the top designs went head-to-head in a thrilling final round.

Beyond the friendly competition, the activity provided a hands-on way to explore concepts of aerodynamics, motion, and design thinking, all while building teamwork and classroom connection. It was a fantastic reminder that learning can take flight in more ways than one!
