School Performance Report
The 2025 School Performance Report was published for all Victorian Government Schools last week. The School Performance Report provides insight into the performance of every government school in terms of Learning performance and Wellbeing
performance.
The data sets that inform the School Performance Reports are 2025 NAPLAN, 2025 student Attitudes to School Survey data, 2024 Teacher Judgements (End of semester Student Report data), 2024 Senior School data (VCE mean English study group score and VCE/VCE-VM Completion rates), and 2024 attendance data.
This data provides insight into the transformation that has begun at Brighton Secondary College. It demonstrates that our student learning continues to thrive, and that we’re now seeing improvements in the way that our students feel about our school.
Overall LEARNING performance
Including data from 2025 NAPLAN, 2024 Senior School and 2025 Attitudes to School Survey.
Overall WELLBEING performance
Including data from the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey and 2024 attendance.
The School Performance Report has a more granular breakdown of each of these measures, you can see a part of the breakdown from the Wellbeing section here.
It is heartening to see that we’re showing improvement in every measure, and we have confidence that we’ll see a further lift in 2026. That improvement speaks to how our students in aggregate are feeling about their school, and shifting the feeling of our students in aggregate speaks to the increased quality and consistency in teacher practice.
In school transformation, the first signs of positive traction are how students feel about school. How staff and parents feel will be the next thing to shift, and then we’ll see improvements in learning outcomes – which is so exciting because our base is already so high. Then community perception will begin to change more broadly.
This report is further evidence and gives us greater confidence that the future is bright.
Peter Langham,
Principal
