Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat
Tomorrow, Wednesday 29th October our Foundation students will travel by bus to the Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat in Lavers Hill. The retreat will allow students to interact personally with iconic Australian animals. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 9:30am and return at 1:45pm. The students will stop at the Gellibrand Playground for morning tea. Students may wear their sports uniform. Sunscreen needs to be applied before students come to school. Fruit and snacks for the day need to be packed in a labelled brown paper bag or plastic bag. Drink bottles also need to be labelled. Students will eat their lunch back at school.
Year 4 Anglesea Camp
The Year 4 camp in Anglesea was a great success. The students showed great resilience and enthusiasm at camp, making the most of every opportunity—even when the weather tried to dampen the fun. We are so proud of how the students got involved and the memories they’ve brought home. A big thank you to all the staff and parents who made the camp such a great success.
Bravehearts Incursion
On Wednesday 5th November, our students from Years F – 2 will have the opportunity to experience Bravehearts’ personal safety education program: ‘Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show’.
Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure show has been educating Australian children since 2006, providing them with personal safety tools and strategies while supporting positive self-esteem and resilience-building.
The program is highly effective and great fun too - kids love Ditto!
The Ditto show is a live, interactive, approximately 20 minute performance starring Bravehearts’ mascot ‘Ditto’. It includes song, dance, and easy-to-remember messages about personal safety. These songs and messages were written by Bravehearts’ professional educators and child psychologists and are developmentally appropriate for your child’s age group.
What your child will learn -
The show is underpinned by the following principles of personal safety:
• Differentiating ‘yes’ and ‘no’ feelings;
• Recognising the bodies ‘warning signs’;
• Identifying ‘private parts’ and ‘privacy’;
• Reinforcing that there is no secret that children cannot tell someone;
• What to do if you feel unsafe or unsure.
