In the first weeks Term 4, all year levels celebrated the Japanese traditional Moon-Viewing Festival called Tsukimi — “tsuki” means moon and “mi” means to view.
Foundation students enjoyed making a Tsukimi craft picture using fluffy cotton-ball clouds.Year 1 & 2 students created adorable usagi (bunnies) by tracing their hands on paper and gluing them onto a moon-shaped paper plate.Year 3 & 4 students designed their own Tsukimi Bento lunch boxes, showing great creativity and imagination.Year 5 & 6 students made beautiful Tsukimi collage artworks by cutting and arranging shapes of the moon, dango (sweet rice dumplings), usagi (bunny), and susuki (Japanese pampas grass).
It was a wonderful way for all students to learn about and appreciate a special part of Japanese culture while expressing their creativity!
