Dear Foundation Families,
We had another fantastic week in Foundation, exploring new sounds, diving into new topics, and continuing to strengthen our routines and expectations as we settle into Term 4. Please access and sign the swimming forms available on SIMON Everywhere.
📝 We will also be sending home paper copies (for King Swim), which need to be filled in and returned to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Thank you for your prompt attention to this!
Next week:
English: This week, we are learning the /ch/ sound! Students will be practicing saying, reading, and writing words with the /ch/ sound, such as chat, chick, and check.

Mathematics: We have continued working through our Mathematics Fluency program, exploring two-digit numbers by bundling icy pole sticks to build our understanding of place value.
Social Emotional Learning: Next week we will continue our learning about respecting differences. Students will explore the idea that boys and girls can like many different things. Through class discussions and sharing activities, we will talk about our own likes and dislikes and listen to our friends to discover what we have in common and what is different. These conversations will help us build respect, understanding, and inclusion within our classroom community.
Integrated: Next week in Integrated, we will be learning about different emotions and how to cope with them. Students will explore ways to recognise and understand how they feel in different situations. We will learn to use the right words to describe our emotions and discuss strategies to help us manage our feelings in positive and calm ways. These lessons will support students in building emotional awareness, self-regulation, and empathy towards others.
Auslan: 🐾 Next week in Auslan, we will be learning that when signing, we sign the object first and then describe its features. 👋 Students will practise this by learning new signs for common pets. 🐶🐱🐰 By the end of the week, students will be able to confidently sign at least three pet signs using the correct order and description. 🌟
Religion: ⛪ Next week in Religion, we will be learning about the processes we follow during Mass and how to read the Bible with respect and understanding. 📖 Students will explore what happens during Mass, the meaning behind each part, and practise finding simple passages in the Bible. 🙏
We will also be exploring Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and learning how it is celebrated by people around the world. 🪔✨ These lessons will help us build respect, understanding, and appreciation for different faith traditions. 💛
