Media Arts

In Grade 3 and 4 Media Arts we have been working on our submissions for the DOSCEL Christmas Card Competition.
Students explored the artwork of Children's Picture Book Author and Artist, Jeannie Baker. Jeannie Baker uses natural resources from the Australian enviornement and crafted sculptures to create collages to photograph. These form the illustrations for her picture books.
Students used a range of wrapping paper, celophane, tissue, and paper napkins to create a collage inspired by the scripture of Matthew:
In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking “Where is the child who has been born King of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage”.
(Matthew 2:1-2)
In the coming weeks, students will vote on the shortlisted entries from Foundation - Grade Six, to identify the winning pieces to be published on Christmas Cards this year.
We look forward to sharing more of their work with you!
Kind regards,
Emily Robertson
