Principal's message

Hello Alvie families,

Welcome back to Term 4!

It’s been wonderful to see everyone return with smiles, energy and enthusiasm for the final stretch of the year. A big thank you to all our students for showing such flexibility and grit as they’ve met some new faces around the school. We’ve had a few casual Education Support Staff joining us recently, and it’s been great to see our students making them feel so welcome.

There’s plenty of excitement around the grounds with the new toilet block arriving this week! Thank you to everyone for being so responsible and keeping clear of the area. Your care and attention to safety are much appreciated as the works continue. You can check out some of the excitement below!

We’re also preparing for the Warrion Flower Show – donations are very welcome and can be sent to school as soon as possible. Cakes should be delivered on Wednesday morning, with ingredients clearly labelled. If any parents are available to volunteer on the day, I’d love to hear from you. The funds raised on the day will go towards new furniture in the 5/6 classroom.

On the farm front, we have another broody hen! A big thank you to Mr Frederick, who has kindly brought in some eggs for her to sit on. Please remind students to follow our chicken rules and give her space when arriving at school.

Congratulations to all students who participated in Alvie's Got Talent at the end of last term. It was amazing to see such a variety of skills on show but also how respectful the audience was. The place holders enjoyed hot chips and a lolly snake to celebrate today!

1st Place: Chloe, Isabel and Zahli

2nd Place: Greyson and his assitants Caleb and Ashton

3rd Place: Addison

Breakfast club has been running smoothly but we are in need of another volunteer to help us on a Tuesday morning. Please contact the office if you can help even if its just one morning.

We're getting excited about the concert and hope you have seen the information from Mrs Thorley, please keep an eye on Compass and in school bags for notes. This year we are hoping to pave a stage on the back side of the sports shed and are looking for volunteers who can help dig out the grass, level and pave. We expect the area will be about 3m x 6m and will be a fantastic addition to the yard for students to perform during break times, during class and at our annual event. In the future we will look to add a cover to the stage area and power to the shed.

Next week is Children’s Week, a special time to celebrate the rights, talents and achievements of all children. This year’s theme focuses on “Children having a say – the right to be heard.” We’ll be marking the week with classroom discussions and activities that celebrate student voice and belonging.

Finally, we’re looking forward to hosting a series of community lunches later this term. These will be wonderful opportunities to connect and celebrate together – stay tuned to Compass for more details soon!
