150 Celebrations

Morning and Afternoon Tea for the Celebrations

We’re aiming to have morning tea available for guests that come along to view school memorabilia and take a tour at our 150 celebrations.  We’re asking for donations of food for morning tea from parents.  If you could bring something along on the Friday morning, that would be much appreciated.

The last time we made such a request was for the Grandparents Day last year, and the response was amazing.  We’re hoping to have a similar spread on offer at this event.

And of course, we’ll be looking for a few volunteers to help serving morning tea.  If you’d be willing to help out with this, please add your name to this link below.

Toffee Apples

Toffee apples were a common treat many years ago, and we have decided to give everyone the opportunity to order a toffee apple or 2 as part of our celebrations.

Orders can be made via the QKR app. Further details can be found on the Sausage Sizzle/Donut & Toffee Apple Day page.

BBQ

As most would know, we run a whole school BBQ once each term.  For this term, our whole school BBQ will be held on September 1, to coincide with our 150 celebrations.  To order something for your child please order them via the QKR app. Further details can be found on the Sausage Sizzle/Donut & Toffee Apple Day page.

Our guests on the day will be welcome to purchase a sausage from the BBQ, but unlike the students, they won’t need to place an order.

Mobility

We understand there will be a number of elderly visitors on September 1 to be part of the assembly, before heading up to look through the original building and the memorabilia display.  To assist with accessing the school and getting around, we have a few plans in place, which include:

·         Elderly visitors will be welcome to drive through the staff carpark and park on the edge of the school oval, meaning they’re nice and close to the gym.  This area will be roped off and Simon (our maintenance man) will be on hand to manage parking.

·         We will have a golf cart on hand to ferry guests up to the original building after the assembly.  Thanks to Shane and Oscar Burke for the loan of their golf cart.

·         It’s likely that getting a park close to the school will be a challenge for lots of people on the morning of September 1.  To save people walking long distances, we’ll have a shuttle bus service running to and from Royal Park.  Visitors will easily get a park in that area and then wait for the bus to arrive.

So please pass these messages on to any family or friends that might be more inclined to come along on September 1 if they know about the arrangements outlined above.  We don’t want anyone to miss out because they have mobility concerns.

150 Year Medallions

All students and members of the school community will be able to purchase a medallion for $5.

Medallions for students at our school, or their family members, should be ordered through the Qkr app BEFORE 4:00pm on Friday, 25 August. The medallions will then be distributed to the relevant students to take home in the week leading up to the 150th Anniversary on 01 September.

After the Qkr closing date, medallions may be purchased at the school office, while stocks last.
