Last week Foundation students had the opportunity to celebrate 100 Days at School. The day was fun-filled and students celebrated by having the opportunity to make their own 100 day biscuits, complete fun craft activities, play class games and jump with joy on the inflatable obstacle course. We would like to thank all families for allowing their child to be a part of an amazing celebration.
In Literacy, students have been exploring non-fiction texts that relate to our Geography unit. We are learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction, looking at features such as facts, diagrams, and contents pages. After our trip to the farm we have been reading books about different farm animals and have been learning about diet (What they eat), appearance (What they look like) and habitat (where they live). Students have created diagrams and written repetitive sentences about the information learnt about the animals from the texts. It has been so exciting to see how confident students are becoming in recognising information about the animals we have read about.
We are still revising our yellow and green heart words and have begun to introduce the next stage. Please continue to practise these at home.
Students have enjoyed our work on numbers to 20 and extending their addition skills using teen numbers. Now that we are confident, we have begun to introduce subtraction. Students are being introduced to multiple strategies to take away and subtract.
This term we have been learning about Geography and exploring different environments and learning what makes these different from each other and why they are all important to us. We are moving onto the City and identifying natural and man made things we find there, animals, and ways to take care of it. Students are engaging in various rotations that allow them to explore features and aspects of each of the environments we have been learning about.
