Roller Hockey Trip of a Lifetime!

Over the holidays and during Week One, I had the privilege to travel to Indiana in the US and partake in the State Wars Roller Hockey Championships, as a member of Team Australia’s Aussie Roo's. Whilst over there, I participated in both the Women’s Open and Girls Major divisions. The tournament proved to be the experience of a lifetime and provided me with so many opportunities. I was able to better myself as a player, leader and member of the hockey community, whilst meeting fantastic people from all around the world. After completing the women’s division in the first week, I then headed into the Girls' Major division, in which we took home a bronze medal. It was surreal playing with a bunch of girls from all over the country and developing such a tight bond in a short amount of time. Upon coming back, I have had time to reflect on the trip and acknowledge the massive amount of support I obtained, leading up to it. I would like to thank everyone from the Endeavour community who continuously supported this opportunity and made the balance between school and sport easier to manage. I hope to represent my country again in the future and look forward to sharing my experiences with the EC community!

Sports Report:

Volleyball SA State Schools Cup

Endeavour students recently had the opportunity to compete in the Volleyball State Schools Cup competition for the first time.

After months of trainings our 2 boys teams went into the 3-day tournament with confidence. Our Year 7/8 Boys team were exceptional throughout the days not dropping a game and taking out the Division 1 trophy. The team committed to their trainings and finished winning both the SACSA and Volleyball SA tournaments. They were expertly coached by Mr Kupke who could not be prouder of their achievements over the year.

Our other team competed in the Year 9/10 Division 1 Pool with energy and excitement. We unfortunately lost 2 of our starting lineups on the eve of the first day and the team took a little time to readjust their combinations.

We finished 8th out of the 12 teams, which was a huge credit to the boys.

Badminton

Last Tuesday, Endeavour sent 3 teams to compete in the inaugural SACSA Badminton competition. Two Year 9/10 Boys teams and a Year 9/10 Girls team tried out and trained in the lead up. Our students were fantastic in their respect for the opposing teams and the competition, helping to score and administrate the day. Our teams had varied success with the Girls and Boys Silver teams finishing 9 out of the 14 teams. Our Boys Gold team finished 11th overall and were ultra-competitive in all their games. Thanks to Mrs Fitridge for her coaching and guidance and we look forward to being part of this competition again next year.

Basketball

After months of training our 7 basketball teams descended on the Lights Community Centre to compete in the SACSA Year 7/8 and 9/10 tournament. Endeavour prides itself on its Basketball prowess, possessing a number of state level players, so we went into the tournament with a level confidence. Our teams did not disappoint with 4 out of the 7 teams finishing in the medals.

Congratulations to our Year 9/10 Girls Gold team and Year 9/10 Boys Silver team for winning their divisions. Our Year 9/10 Gold team took out 2nd place falling agonisingly short in the final after cruising through the lead up games. Our Year 7/8 Boys Silver side finished third. To add to this success our other teams finished in 4th, 5th and 9th position. Massive thanks to Mrs Loveday, Mrs Carter, Mrs Willcocks and Miss Colagiovanni for their coaching and managing of the teams. Extended thanks to Mr Herne for his leadership and guidance in preparation for the event, proof that hard work pays off.
