NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

The last couple of weeks have been extremely busy as we celebrated Book Week, School Disco and Father's Day.   I would like to thank the P&F for their huge effort in organising the school disco.  Those that attended had a great time and I hope for your sake, they slept well that night.  Book Week was equally as successful and I would like to thank Mrs Rannah Scamporlino and the whole of the Holy Name staff for the work and effort that they put in.  It was wonderful to see so many of you at the parade.  We had a special presentation from Nathan Lambert (Labor member for Preston and Reservoir) and also had a special visit from the kids of Oakhill Kindergarten.

Macsis

Last week, you may have received a survey link.  Each year staff, students and families  are asked to fill out a survey to give the school valuable feedback.  The surveys are anonymous but provide us with valuable information.  I know that families are busy, but we would really appreciate it if you could take the time to complete the survey.

Father's Day Stall Thank You

Once again, a huge thank you to Mariella Alessi (mother of Serafina & Roman) who purchased and wrapped the very popular Father's Day Stall gifts.  Mariella spent a great many hours preparing the stall, so that our children could buy a special something for their Father (or special person).  Thank you also to the parents who came along to help at the stall.

Father's Day BBQ

We had a massive response to our Father's Day  Sausage sizzle.  I hope all the children and their dad or significant males have a wonderful Sunday.

Swimming

On Monday our junior school begin their swimming program that will extend over the next two weeks.

Term 4

Just a reminder that the school day will finish at 3:20pm every day from the commencement of Term 4.

With the promise of warmer weather in Term 4, please note that all the children are expected to be in their Summer uniform by Monday 16th October.

Chicken Nugget Day

This week, your child should have brought home an order form for our chicken nugget day on Monday October 9th.   Whether you take up this offer is completely up to you.  If this is something that you are interested in, please make sure that your order and money are in by the last day of this term.

ART NEWS

Our students have been having an amazing time in Art.  Please read the following Art News and pencil in the dates for our Art Exhibition.

2024

Plans are well on the way for the 2024 school year.  This is the hardest time for a school as we continue the busy Term 4 while simultaneously laying plans for 2024.

Staff will begin school on Monday 29th January, our Preps will come in from 9-11 on Tuesday 30th January.  All children Prep-Year 6 will be expected at school from Wednesday 31st January.

Mums Night Out

Mums... this is your opportunity to grab a couple of your Holy Name friends and get out for the evening.  Make sure you include the following date in your diary!!

MAD Dads' Night Out

Day for Daniel

On September 5th we remember young Daniel Morcombe who was abducted and subsequently lost his life.  His parents are instrumental in getting the message out there for all young children to be safe. The following website https://danielmorcombe.com.au/keeping-kids-safe/keeping-kids-safe/conversation-cards/ has a series of conversation cards (see below as an example), that you might like to use to engage your children in a discussion on how they can be safe in tricky situations.

A grown-up that James knows gives him a nice present, something he really wants, but the grown-up asks James to do something in return that makes him feel uncomfortable or scared.  What could James do?

Please take the time to have a conversation with your children about possible scenarios.

Excursions

There are numerous incursions and excursions happening this term for various grade levels.  Please check Operoo and ensure you have signed the relevant permission notes.

Before and After School Pick Up and Drop Off

Thank you to the many wonderful families for doing the right thing and keeping our children safe in the mornings and afternoons.

There have been an increasing number of parents stopping their cars to pick up and drop off their students near the crossing at Robb Street. This becomes very dangerous for our students and crossing supervisor, especially during the peak times. This area is a no standing area.  Please do not use this area to pick up or drop off your child and instead use the church kiss and drop.

Lost Property Basket

The basket is overflowing with expensive uniform items, mainly woollen jumpers, windcheaters (& even jackets) with no names or names of children long gone from the school.  We return as many items to their owners as we can, but if parents don't name or rename the pieces, there's nothing we can do.

If your child has lost a uniform item, please come and look through the basket in the office corridor, take your item and don't forget to name it.

Assembly Roster

We welcome all parents and friends to join us each Monday from 2:30 for our assembly. Each week a different grade level will share and present their learnings.
