Term 3 Sports Report

Mr  DeNardis - PE Teacher

Term 3 is over and what a term for sport at EPS.

ATHLETICS

Starting with the House athletics competition, where Brickwood were the Champions!

The House Spirit award went to Murphy this year. Their team cheers and participation across the board made it a no-brainer when awarding this to them.

Many school records were beaten on the day. Congratulations to Rupert & Ava Year 6 & Frankie Year 5 for all breaking the record in the 1500m, Ava broke the 800m record and Frankie broke the 100m record!

The fastest 8 100m times across all age groups were the final race of the day. Congratulations to Rupert Year 6 and Frankie Year 5 who are the school champions for 2023.

A strong squad of 70 students recently competed at the District carnival at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. Congratulations to the 30 EPS students who will now represent EPS at the Beachside District competition next term. GO EPS!

YEAR 5/6 AFL & AFLW TEAMS

As the winners of the Division event, the AFLW team went on to represent EPS at the Division event. The team played really well but unfortunately was not able to go through to the next level. Mrs Seabrook the coach of the team said that everyone involved in the team played amazing. They should be so proud of the efforts they put into their sport.

The AFL team managed to go through Divisions and Districts undefeated, which meant they progressed to the Regional competition. They went undefeated on the day until the Grand final - the team that beat us came runners up for the state. On the day, the EPS team played exceptionally well, playing as a team the whole day, looking out for each other and willing to do what the team needed so that we could play as well as we did. I would like to congratulate the team again on their efforts. A special thank you to Mr D for coaching the team!

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA

Congratulations to Ava L in Year 6 who represented Victoria at the Cross Country National Championships earlier this term. Ava finished 21st overall and medaled in their team event. An unbelievable result and one Ava should be very proud of.

Congratulations to Frankie in Year 5 who was selected to represent Victoria at the upcoming National Championships in the 100m, 200m, 800m & 4x100m relay. Frankie will compete in November this year. Go Frankie!
