RoboCup - STEAM

Leanne Williams - Learning Specialist Engagement

Earlier this year we secured a Sponsorship Grant from the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. This Grant enabled us to engage Inspire Robotics to work with each Year 5/6 class on a weekly basis for 10 weeks.

During these sessions, our students have had the opportunity to design and build their own Lego Spike Prime robots and program them to play soccer. Students have used engineering principles to bring their creations to life.

This program has provided our students with an authentic challenge to develop their critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and project management skills. It has also enabled EPS to build its human capital in this space (i.e., I've been learning too!).

On Wednesday, 13th September all of the hard work came together as we hosted the inaugural EPS RoboCup!

The two winning teams will represent EPS at the National RoboCup Competition at Albert Park on 6th October. Congratulations to Team Nothing and Team Carebears!!

Unfortunately, Zoe Daniel (Federal Member for Goldstein) was unable to attend but she will be visiting on 20th October as she has heard about the amazing work the students are doing with robotics at EPS!
