Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers

NAPLAN

The 2023 that NAPLAN test results are reported using proficiency standards.

Students’ results showed how they performed in each of the NAPLAN assessment areas against 4 new proficiency levels:

• Exceeding: The student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.

• Strong: The student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.

• Developing: The student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.

• Needs additional support: The student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

As the NAPLAN measurement scale and time series was reset, results from 2023 on cannot be directly compared with results from 2008 to 2022.

Below are the outcomes we achieved compared to those of the State.

Building works!!

On the 1st of September, the first day of spring we finally opened our incredible new Oval. It has been trying and lengthy process but worth every ounce of the energy and investment we have made.

This project, together with the new multisports area, represents a $500K investment in our schools infrustructure to the direct benefit of our students and the community. We feel very grateful for the grant funds allocated as well as the contributions of families and PCA fundraising over many years to enable our school to make this happen!

By the end of the school holidays we should be rid of...

  • the scourge of temporary fencing and commence full use of the oval and multisports courts!
  • the current Boys toilet block in Brickwood hall as works commence on our new BATHROOMS!
  • disruption to the main entry to the school as new paths are completed and landscaping begins. Soon after we will be installing a picket fencing c/o the wonderful PCA 'buy a picket' fund!!

What a magnificant school!!

This is the final newsletter of the school term and an opportunity to thank our staff and school community. I extend my best wishes to all families over the final week of the school term and over the school holiday break. I hope it is a chance to spend time together and enjoy some events, day trips or travel. We look forward to coming together once again for the beginning of Term 4 on Monday October 2nd.
